During Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4, milestone quests served as a compact but powerful engine for experience gain. Rather than offering a sprawling list of objectives, the season presented only six milestone tracks, each unfolding across twenty stages and paying out 15,000 XP per completed stage. That structure made the quest log feel like a small constellation in an otherwise dark sky—few points of light, but each one worth navigating toward. Players who wanted to level up quickly learned to treat these milestones not as optional diversions but as the spine of their seasonal grind.

Chapter 5 Season 4 Milestone Quests, Detailed
The six milestone quests available during this season were:
-
Thank the bus driver
-
Eliminate enemy players
-
Collect or spend bars
-
Survive storm circles
-
Damage opponents
-
Outlast players
Each of these tracks had twenty stages, but the overall set was noticeably smaller than the milestone offerings from the previous season. That reduction meant players could not rely on milestones alone for rapid progression, yet each completed stage still provided a meaningful 15,000 XP injection.
Thanking the bus driver was perhaps the easiest routine to adopt. On a controller, players could press up on the D-Pad before the match began. On PC, the B key performed the same function, while mobile players tapped the emote button in the bottom right corner. Because this action could be repeated at the start of every match, it behaved like a small ritual—an automatic muscle-memory movement that quietly fed the milestone counter.
Collecting or spending bars offered more variability. Bars could accumulate like rainwater in a hidden cistern if players routinely visited bunkers that opened throughout the match. Shops and cash registers provided another steady trickle, and eliminated players sometimes dropped bars as well. For those who wanted to monitor their progress, pressing triangle on a PlayStation controller or Y on an Xbox controller opened the quest tracking menu, where milestones could be pinned for easier visibility. On PC, the associated key appeared in the bottom right of the quests menu.
Surviving storm circles and outlasting players operated as twin winnowing fans, separating methodical players from reckless ones. Damage and elimination objectives, meanwhile, rewarded aggressive engagement, pushing players toward combat rather than passive survival.
Other Ways to Gain XP
Because the season's milestone quests were thinner than usual, players needed secondary XP sources. Daily Quests became the most reliable supplement. Individually, these quests typically awarded only 1,000 XP, with occasional lucky payouts of 5,000 XP. However, completing three Daily Quests unlocked an extra 60,000 XP bonus. That bonus was tied to a timer visible in the top right of the Daily Bonus Goals box. Players who noticed the timer realized their window for completion was finite—sometimes only a few hours remained before the goals reset.
Weekly quests provided another stacking opportunity. In this season, finishing eight weekly quests granted an additional 30,000 XP. These tasks were often harder, especially for solo players who could not lean on teammates during tricky combat or traversal objectives.
Kickstart Quests softened the difficulty curve. Many of them were exceptionally easy, asking players to accept a SHADOW Briefing, search Avenger's or Dr. Doom Chests, or discover three new areas on the map. Each Kickstart Quest paid around 20,000 XP, making them a welcoming on-ramp for players who wanted quick progress without prolonged grinding.

Some additional objectives required playing Fortnite Reload, which meant players who bounced between modes could find even more XP tucked into the rotating quest structure. Taken together, Daily Quests, Weekly Quests, Kickstart Quests, and Reload objectives formed a layered support system around the season's sparse milestone list. A player who rotated through these systems methodically could still move through the Battle Pass at a healthy pace, even when the milestone constellation offered only six stars to follow.
